The largest of the boroughs of New York City, Queens was the only borough whose neighborhoods once consisted of individual villages rather than districts of a municipal entity. Today, Queens feels like several small towns strung together, rather than suburbs centered around a business district. Nevertheless, from the industrial stretches of Long Island City to the residential areas of Rego Park or Jackson Heights, Queens showcases all the different flavors of New York City's variety, whether expressed in its commercial zones, its neighborhoods, or in the language, culture, and complexion of its people. Queens also contains such landmarks as the former site of the 1939 World's Fair, both of New York City's Airports, Shea Stadium and the home of the US Open Tennis Tournament.
